Panel constituted

Thiruvananthapuram: The Government has set up a high power committee headed by the Agriculture Director and consisting of representatives of the Health Department, Pollution Control Board and the Agricultural University to enforce the ban on the use of Endosulphan and to review the use of other harmful pesticides. Agriculture Minister Mullakkara Ratnakaran also directed the Pesticide Testing Laboratory to collect and test samples of pesticides which it thought was harmful. He asked the Palakkad District Agricultural Officer to organise meetings to educate the people on the dangers involved in the use of such pesticides. — Special Correspondent

Devaswom Board official suspended

Thrissur: Cochin Devaswom Board president M.A. Krishnanunni on Saturday said the newly-appointed Accounts Officer, M.D. Komalam, was suspended.

Ms. Komalam was formerly Assistant Commissioner with the Thiruvanchikulam division of the Board. — Staff Reporter
