Major parties criticised for stalemate in Council
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE:
Janata Dal (U) MLC Basavaraj Bommai on Friday criticised the Opposition and the ruling coalition for stalling the proceedings of the Legislative Council in their fight over the appointment of presiding officer on ad hoc basis.
Speaking to The Hindu , he expressed concern that the stalemate had come in the way of discussing serious issues concerning people such as the drought, suicides by farmers, implementation of D.M. Nanjundappa Committee report on removing regional imbalances and the final award of the Cauvery River Water Disputes Tribunal to be issued on Monday.
He expressed dissatisfaction that the ruling and the Opposition parties were indulging in a battle at the cost of the proceedings of the House.
Among the coalition partners, Mr. Bommai particularly picked the BJP for its behaviour.
