Health check for journalists

CHENNAI: Lister Metropolis will hold a preventive health check for journalists. Tests for complete blood count, fasting blood sugar and lipid profile besides other routine tests will be done at 13, Jagannathan Road, Nungambakkam. Ten to 12 hours of overnight fasting for fasting glucose and lipid profile is necessary. For advance registration contact 99403-40101.

Blood donation

Over 265 units of blood, donated at a camp held on Thursday, were sent to Government General Hospital and Government Stanley Hospital. The Association of Voluntary Blood Donors, Tamil Nadu, and the Madras Voluntary Blood Bureau conducted it.

Special lecture

At a special lecture on embedded systems was held recently by the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Students' Association of Raja Rajeswari Engineering College. L.R Raja Gopal, Chief Executive Officer of Sands Instruments, said the market for embedded systems was growing exponentially. Challenging opportunities wait in the design and implementation of these systems in the power sector, energy conservation and management.

Annual day

St. Peter's Primary and Higher Secondary School and St. Montfort Nursery School, Royapuram, held their annual day on Friday. Rev. Bro. J. Jesuraj, winner of Tamil Nadu's best teacher award, was felicitated. A sound-and-light programme was also held in his honour. Rev. Pro. James Paulraj read the school annual report.

Dementia meet

Dementia meet for the benefit of patients and caregivers will be held on Sunday at Novartis building, 127, Marshalls Road, Egmore in which neurologist Deepak Arjundas, consultant psychiatrist S. Vijaykumar and psychologists Gurumoorthy and Ravi Samuel will give talks on "Managing Stress".

Science exhibition

St. Paul's Matriculation Higher Secondary School has won the first prize at the district-level in the Jawaharlal Nehru science exhibition and the third prize at the 33rd State-level edition of the exhibition held in Madurai. The students had done a project on immediate accident assistance with the help of global positioning system. The school has also won the best exhibition prize at the southern India science fair held at N.L.K. Rotary School at Hubli in Karnataka in January.

Pushpothsavam

Sri Vedantha Desika Sampradhya Samrakshana Trust will hold a pushpothsavam of Srinivasa Perumal. The programmes will be held at K.P. Koil Sannathi Street, Mylapore. Participation fee is Rs. 250.
