Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Shreya Ghosal will give the city an evening of music on February 17 to raise funds for various education projects.

Round Table India is organising the event to fund its national long-term project for primary education titled `Freedom Through Education'.

The organisation has more than 2,500 members across the country, mostly young businessmen and professionals, and is involved with several community service initiatives. Madras South Round Table 39 has spent more than Rs.30 lakh on the expansion and setting up of schools in the city and surrounding areas over the last decade.

Shreya Ghosal, a B.A. student, shot into the limelight as a child prodigy who debuted as a playback singer with `Devdas'. She has won several awards for the songs she sang for `Devdas' and `Jism' and has sung around 275 songs for films in languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali and Marathi.
