Bangalore: For Sandeep R., a first year B.Sc. student at Seshadripuram College here, numbers have all the crucial answers.
Sensor
He has, over the past five years, developed two formulas to determine the dimension of an object, and distance between an object, moving or stationary, and the observer, besides developing a tsunami sensor en route. Speaking to presspersons here on Thursday, Sandeep said that he worked on devising the formulas for two years. "The formulas may be used to study the properties of any distant object externally, such as the dimension of the object, the distance between the object and the observer, the angle produced by the object to the analyser, the motional variations and path of a moving object," Sandeep said. Confident that the formulas could be used in space research, he said that he had sent them along with explanations to President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. "The President asked me to send my formulas to the National Innovation Foundation, Ahmedabad, while the Prime Minister sent me an encouraging reply," he said.
Proposal
About the "Tsunami Sensor", he said that he sent the proposal to the Indian Institute of Science and the Department of Oceanography. "The scientists from both Indian Institute of Science and Department of Oceanography asked me to test it thoroughly first. "But since that would involve huge costs, I had to abandon that experiment," Sandeep said.
