HYDERABAD: A `drunken' youngster being chased for allegedly misbehaving with a woman died after jumping into an apartment building's open-to-sky vent at Nallakunta on Saturday, the police said. Chandrakanth, 26, slipped from the four-storeyed building's vent and fell on the cellar. He died on the spot. The computer animation course student living in Somajiguda joined his friends for a party at a flat in Bhagirath Apartments on Friday night. The party continued past midnight. His friends told the police that Chandrakanth disappeared around 1.30 a.m. The building watchman Ravi alleged the youngster knocked on the doors of his room.
Alarm raised
According to Nallakunta Sub-Inspector D. Sudheer Reddy, Chandrakanth forced his way into the room, bolted the doors from inside and tried to molest the watchman's wife. He wore no clothes except a towel wrapped around his waist at that time, the police said. As the watchman raised an alarm, Chandrakanth rushed out and went up the staircase. "Apparently, he mistook the open-to-sky vent that had parapet wall on one side for an overhead tank and jumped into it," the SI explained. The victim hails from Sanga Reddy of Medak district. He was living in a rented house at Somajiguda. A case under section 174 of Criminal Procedure Code was registered.
