One hacked to death in faction feud

ANANTAPUR: Faction rivalry between two groups in Kodavandlapalli village of Mudigubba mandal in the district claimed one life and injured three others on Sunday.

One Hosurappa (40), follower of former sarpanch Ramanachari, was hacked to death in the group clash that took place during Moharrum celebrations in the village.

According to the police, the two groups led by Ramanachari and Ranga Reddy were consumed liquor and were participating in the Moharrum festivities.

They picked up argument in an inebriated condition and when tempers ran high, the followers of Ranga Reddy group attacked Ramanachari group.

Ramanachari escaped the attack, but his followers couldn't. Housrappa was hacked to death allegedly by Ranga Reddy's followers.

Two others of Ramanachari group and Housurappa's wife also sustained injuries in the attack. K. Subramanayam, Kadiri DSP, rushed to the village.
