NEW DELHI: Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party president Harsh Vardhan has demanded that Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit should come out with a foolproof summer action plan on water, power, health services and possible incidents of fire for the coming summer season.
He has also sought fixing
Stating that every year during summer over 50 per cent of the population craves for water, Dr. Vardhan said the worst affected are unauthorised colonies, slums and rural areas. The BJP leader demanded that while efforts should be made to augment supply of water during the summer months, the Delhi Jal Board should also be revamped as it does not supply water to 30 per cent of Delhi and in most areas the water supplied by it is polluted and infected and not fit for drinking.
Similarly during the summer season, Dr. Vardhan said the power situation deteriorates and Delhi experiences a lot of load shedding. Stating that "there is nothing like social responsibility with the private power companies'', Dr. Vardhan lamented that they do not listen even to the complaints properly and there is a need to correct this approach.
The BJP leader also called upon the Delhi Government to learn from the past and make all arrangements in advance to control the possible outbreak of diseases during the summer months.
