KHAMMAM: Six political parties on Sunday asked the Government to allocate Rs 2,500 crores for the implementation of the Dummugudem lift scheme on the Godavari in the annual budget. Addressing a news conference, Tummala Nageswara Rao (TDP), Thammineni Veerabhadram (CPI-M), K. Rangaiah (CPI ML-New Democracy), Rangaiah (Pratighatana), Subba Rao (TRS) and Ravi Maruth (Lok Satta) said that the Congress Government was left with only two years to complete the two phases of the project estimated to cost Rs 5,000 crores. The Government had already assured the people that the project would be completed in two years. Leaders of the six parties said that a workshop would be organised on the implementation of the project in Khammam on February 10. They said about 6,000 elected representatives, including sarpanches and waters users association members, would leave for the Assembly on February 15 to present a memorandum to the Government on the issue.
