HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy has asked all the district administrations in the State to emulate the Medak Collector's model of Social Accountability Management System, which was recognised by an international agency.
Certification
In the backdrop of Medak Collector B. Venkatesham being awarded the SA- 8000 Certification, the first Government department in Asia to win the coveted international recognition, Dr. Reddy said his Government would give utmost priority for good governance and speedy redressal of people's grievances. Referring to the certification, Dr. Reddy in a press note issued by his office on Sunday said it pertained to the Social Accountability Management System implemented by the Medak Collector. The reference standard was SA 8000:2001, which was internationally promoted by Social Accountability International and required comprehensive and flexible system for managing ethical workplace conditions.
Audit
Social Accountability International had carried out an audit on January 8 and 9 to verify the implementation effectiveness. An assessment report was drawn up and submitted to the certification committee of Genova in Italy, which awarded the certification, the press note added.
