BHUBANESWAR: With campaigns for the forthcoming panchayat polls in the State becoming intense, volunteers of a few movements have joined hands to launch an awareness programme for voters on developmental issues in 10 districts from Monday. Volunteers will impress upon voters to demand a `promise letter' from candidates on their future course of action. "Panchayats are now getting huge funds on different welfare programmes. Representatives, from sarpanches to ward members, will be in charge to implement the projects. We want people with high integrity to be elected," said Jatish Chandra Mohanty, convenor of Mo Samrudha Orissa. Mr. Mohanty said the volunteers would emphasise on 11 major issues, including primary health, education, corruption-free panchayats, revival of small-scale industries, liquor-free societyand rights to women.
