Bhubaneswar: As many as 11 employees of the State Forest Department have sough voluntary retirement in view of the recent naxalite attack in Dhenkanal district. Not being armed was creating a major hurdle for them to work inside the forests where extremists were spreading their operations, they have said. The employees, working under Kamakhyanagar Sub-Division of Dhenkanal, have expressed apprehension that they may fall victim to the growing naxalite menace. At least, two of these 11 employees have clearly stated in their applications that they were seeking voluntary retirement to save their lives. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that all steps were being taken by the police to cope with the situation.
