NCC training can ensure well-rounded development of youth

Bangalore: "The National Cadet Corps (NCC) training should be made compulsory for all students. I will speak to Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and officials concerned in this regard," said D.H. Shankaramurthy, Minister for Higher Education. He was speaking at the reception organised by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to welcome NCC's Republic Day Parade Contingent at the Vidhana Soudha here on Sunday.

The Minister said that several contemporary thinkers had felt that something seemed to be amiss among the youth of today. "I am of the opinion that NCC can ensure well-rounded development of the youth," he said. He promised to try to fulfil the demands of NCC cadets.

The Minister also read out the Chief Minister's message.

S. Srivastava, Deputy Director General, Air Commodore, NCC Karnataka and Goa, spoke.

SUO Manisha Sharma won a bronze medal and was placed overall third in the All-India Best Senior Wing Cadet competition. SUO Kavya Rama Prasad was selected to present the Guard of Honour to Defence Minister A.K. Antony, while Mir Ali Hussain presented the Guard of Honour to Chief of Army Staff J.J. Singh. Ms. Prasad and Mr. Hussain were also adjudged Best Parade Commanders in Senior Wing and Senior Division Guards of Honour respectively, he added.
