Semiconductor industry witnessing impressive growth, says ISA president

HYDERABAD: India Semiconductor Association president Poornima Shenoy hoped that the Centre would soon come out with a comprehensive `semicon' policy covering both manufacturing and R&D sectors.

At a press conference here, she said the Government was expected to come up with the policy around the time of budget. The Indian semiconductor industry witnessed 29.8 per cent growth with a turnover of $ 3.2 billion in 2005.

This was expected to grow to $ 43 billion by 2015.

She said the ISA would be holding its second international conference for semiconductor and electronics industry, `Vision Summit-2007' here on February 5 and 6. More than 250 industry leaders from India and abroad will attend the event to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
