Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday in areas including Ranganatha Avenue, Millers Road and Santhosh Apartment in Kilpauk, parts of Shenoy Nagar and parts of Vallalar Nagar including West Cementry Road, T.H. Road, Inspector Subarayalu Street, Thulasingam Street, Chinna Thambi Street, Moti Garden Street and Pommi Sivaramulu Street for maintenance work.

On Tuesday, power supply will be suspended in various areas including Sevenwells, Sowcarpet, Raja Annamalai Road at Purasawalkam, Panjetty, Kodungaiyur, Ambattur, Sidco, Avadi and Kondithope.

Coaching classes

Periyar Coaching Centre is conducting coaching classes for Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission's Village Administrative Officer Examination 2007 at Periyar Thidal, Vepery. The coaching classes will commence on Monday from 6 p.m. Contact the director, Periyar Coaching Centre over 26618162/63.

Three women injured

Three women commuters were injured when a van carrying about 10 persons overturned at St. Thomas Mount on Sunday night, when it almost collided with a Qualis car. The accident occurred at about 10.15 p.m. near the Officers Training Academy. The injured were taken to two private hospitals on GST Road. The van, bound for Cantonment from Tambaram, was carrying a group of guests for a wedding, said police.

Career guidance

Information security

The Department of Computer Applications, Velammal Engineering College, is organising a free programme on information security for computer science faculty between Monday and Friday. The sessions will cover basics of information security, legal, ethical and professional issues. Contact 26591537.

Projects launched

St. Thomas Orthodox Cathedral has launched two projects named Village Adoption Project and Navathygram to commemorate 90 years of its existence. Under the Village Adoption project, the Pothoor village (near Redhills) has been adopted. Very soon a school and a public health centre will be set up. Stephanos Mar Theodosius, Metropolitan, Diocese of Kolkata, inaugurated the project. Under the other project named Navathygram a senior citizen home was inaugurated by Geevarghese Mar Coorilos, Metropolitan, Diocese of Mumbai. John George, Secretary, St. Thomas Orthodox Cathedral, participated.
