One killed in accident

Thiruvananthapuram: One person was killed and another injured when the motorbike on which they were travelling collided with another vehicle at Ooroottukala on Sunday evening. Ratheesh, 20, son of Krishnankutty of Kodungavila, Neyyattinkara, died at the Medical College Hospital, while Sureshkumar, 24, has been admitted with injuries. — Staff Reporter

NDF, DYFI activists clash

Thiruvananthapuram: At least three persons were injured when Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and National Development Front (NDF) activists clashed at Pallickal near Chirayankeezhu on Sunday evening. The clash occurred when some NDF workers protested the destruction of their party symbols in the area. — Staff Reporter

Painting competition

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Over 1,000 students took part in a painting competition organised by the E.K. Nayanar Cultural Centre at the Museum compound on Sunday. The following are the first-prize winners in various categories. Kindergarten: Karthika Mahesh (Mary Mount Nursery School, Nanthancode); Lower Primary: Anjana Mahesh (Holy Angels', Nanthancode); Upper Primary: Jishnu P. Raj (MGEM HSS); High School: Uthamaraj K.U. (St. Joseph's HSS); Higher Secondary: Aravind Satheesh (Sarvodaya Vidyalaya).
