Man arrested in abduction case
The police received a tip-off that a criminal carrying a reward of Rs.10,000 on his head for his alleged involvement in an abduction case would pass by Dilshad Garden on a stolen motorcycle. Subsequently, the police laid a trap and intercepted the suspect. He was arrested with the motorcycle that was stolen from Chandni Mahal about a month ago. During interrogation, the accused identified himself as Imamuddin and purportedly confessed to his involvement in the abduction of a 17-year-old girl from Dilshad Garden last April. He then went underground and began residing at Sahibabad in Uttar Pradesh under a fictitious name, Ravi.
Public booth owner robbed
According to the booth owner, Vishwanath, the incident took place in the evening when four persons entered his booth and trained a firearm on him. They asked him and the customer to hand over all their valuables. "They took away Rs.12,000 in cash, rings and a chain. I have reported the matter to the police but they are not registering the case," alleged Vishwanath.
British award for engineer
This was in recognition of his work with the Indian community in the U.K. The Minister for Culture and Sport, Tessa Jowell, presented the award to Mr. Radhakrishnan at a function at her office in London last December. The award carries a medal and a citation signed by the Queen. An engineer by profession, Mr. Radhakrishnan, as chairman of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan building sub-committee, had made his expertise available to the Bhavan for the modernisation of its building. From Thalasseri in North Kerala, he is the son of well-known social worker and writer C. K. Revathi Amma.
Man held under Arms Act
The accused, Pappu, was spotted near Vijay Ghat loitering about under suspicious circumstances. A police patrol team intercepted him and on his personal search recovered a country-made pistol. Subsequently, he was arrested and booked under the Arms Act.
