NCC contingent felicitated

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: NCC cadets from Kerala and Lakshadweep who took part in the Republic Day parade and won the fifth place were felicitated at a ceremony organised in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday.

Minister for Education M.A. Baby distributed cash awards and certificates to the cadets. The contingent from the State won the gold medal in group dance and the overall trophy for cultural programmes. A press note issued here said cadet warrant officer Adarsh and cadet warrant officer Ashwini S. Rani of the Air Force wing won the gold medal in the aero-modelling competition. The contingent also won the first place in flag area briefing. Cadet under officer Anitha Narayanan won the best Master of Ceremony award.

Of the 108 cadets who participated in the Republic Day camp, 16 cadets took part in the Rajpath march and six cadets in the Prime Minister's Guard of Honour.At the ceremony, Mr. Baby handed over the inter-group champions banner to Col. M.S. Hada, group commander of the Calicut group which put up the best performance among the five groups from Kerala.

Deputy director-general of NCC (Kerala and Lakshadweep) Brig. O.A. James and NCC director Col. Mohandas participated in the ceremony.
