Scented stamps to be released

The set of four scented stamps, `Fragrance of Roses,' scheduled to be released in Mumbai on February 7 will also be available for sale at all the four philately bureaux, all the head post offices and 25 important sub-post offices in the State.

The fragrance will emanate from the stamps when they are gently rubbed on the upper surface.

The stamps are scheduled to be released by Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology Dayanidhi Maran in the presence of actor Preity Zinta.

The stamps will be in a block of four.

While two stamps are of the Rs.5 denomination, the other two are of Rs.15 denomination. The First Day cover and the information brochure are priced at Rs.2 each.

Miniature sheet

According to a press release issued here, India Post will also bring out miniature sheets and sheetlets (set of 16) on the occasion.

The miniature sheet and sheetlet with presentation pack are priced at Rs.55 and Rs.185 respectively.

Those having the Philatetic Deposit Account at any one of the four bureaux will receive the stamps and other items as per their requirements at their address by registered post.

The new stamps can also be obtained by opening a Philately Deposit Account with an initial deposit of Rs.200. India Post issued its first fragrant stamp (sandal wood) in December 2006, the press note added.
