"JUST BY THE WAY": From an exhibition of photographs by Raghu Rai
NEW DELHI: Highly acclaimed photographer Raghu Rai will exhibit his photographs under the title "Just by the way -- rocks, clouds and nudes" at Galerie Romain Rolland in Alliance Francaise de Delhi at 72 Lodhi Estate here this Wednesday. Rai's photo essays have appeared in the world's leading publications like Time, Life, The New York Times, The Sunday Times, Newsweek and others. He has exhibited his works in London, Paris, New York, Hamburg, Prague, Tokyo, Zurich and Sydney after working for long years with The Statesman in New Delhi Rai has also done extensive photo-documentation of the Bhopal gas tragedy and its continuing effects on the lives of the victims. Rai's works on rocks range from the sculptured rocks in Hyderabad, rock formations in Hampi and Mysore to the rock garden in Chandigarh. The peeping clouds of Kasauli, the clouds and quietude of Shimla, the dark clouds at the Marine Drive and the looming clouds of Pokharan have all captured Rai's fancy. Also on show will be his works from the nude series.
More than 18 books
Rai has also produced more than 18 books, including "The Sikhs", "Calcutta", "Taj Mahal", "India", "Tibet in Exile" and "Mother Teresa." The exhibition will be on view up to February 15 - from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
