Staff Reporter
CHENNAI:
The only way to retain the joy in learning is to keep one's curiosity and enthusiasm alive, Mohan Verghese Chunkath, Vice-Chairman, Science City, said here on Friday.
Participating in the valedictory of a one-day programme on `Celebrating Nature' for school students, he said being a life-long learner and engaging in self-learning were important for students.
"Students must learn the technique of continuous learning," he said.
N. Sundaradevan, Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) chairman, said the four `R's of pollution control were Refuse to buy anything that one doesn't really need, Reduce garbage, Reuse and Recycle.
The aim of the one-day programme was to educate school children, create awareness on nature conservation and emphasise the need to protect, preserve and conserve nature.
Students of Std. XI from various streams participated. Totally, 180 students from around 20 schools took part.
Dr. Sundaradevan distributed prizes and certificates to participants and winners of the various competitions held as part of the programme.
