Good augury, says Minister

Puducherry: Agriculture Minister V. Vaithilingam welcomed the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal apportioning 7 tmcft of water for Karaikal region. He told The Hindu that it was a good augury and hoped that the farmers could work out their farm operations well.

Mr Vaithilingam, a farmer himself, recalled how during his tenure as Chief Minister in 1990s he had put in efforts to procure a fair share in Cauvery water for Karaikal.
