Water tank operators observe fast

Puducherry: Workers engaged as operators of the water tanks in the municipalities and commune panchayats observed an 8-hour fast here on Monday in support of their charter of demands.

K. Saravanan, Secretary of their association, said that it had been urging the Local Administration Department to introduce shift system as was adopted in the Public Works Department.

All those engaged as part time workers and as daily earners should be regularised without delay.
