CREATING AWARENESS: Right to Information Commissioner P.N. Vijayakumar inaugurating a seminar on Right to Information Act in Kannur on Monday.
KANNUR: A district level awareness campaign on the Right to Information (RTI) Act got under way here on Monday. Inaugurating the seminar on the RTI Act as part of the campaign being launched jointly by the State Right to Information Commission and the District Literacy Mission here, Right to Information Commissioner P.N. Vijayakumar said that the Act allowed the citizen to gather valuable information by submitting a request affixed with a Rs.10 court fee stamp. It was a demonstration of the strength of democracy. The RTI Act was among the most revolutionary enactments in the country, he added. District panchayat president K.K. Narayanan presided over the function. District Collector Ishita Roy was the chief guest.
