CHENNAI: India's Sandeep Jangra did well to wear down higher seeded Shohaib Hassan of Pakistan but fell at the quarterfinal stage to second seeded Abdullah Mezayen in the Hong Kong squash junior open on Sunday. Sandeep, whose skills have been honed at the ICL academy in Chennai under the watchful eyes of SRFI consultant Maj Maniam and National Coach Cyrus Poncha, put up a grand show in the pre-quarterfinal against Hassan. The 104-minute encounter went the full distance with the Indian holding his nerves to clinch the tie with some outstanding drops, according to information reaching here. But then against the far superior Mezayen, Sandeep had no answer and went down in straight games. The scores: Quarterfinals: Abdullah Mezayen (Kuw) bt Sandeep Jangra (Ind) 9-2, 9-4, 9-.
