Katni (MP): Almost 12 hours after falling into a 56 feet deep borewell and getting lodged at a depth of 20 feet, a two-year-old boy was rescued unhurt at Goreshwar village near here on Monday. Amit Kushwah who fell into the borewell dug in the field of his uncle, was rescued in wee hours by digging a parallel pit and connecting it to the bore through a tunnel, District Collector Anupam Rajan told PTI. The boy, who was dehydrated and administered mother's feed, emerged out of the borewell with only a few bruises and scratches, Mr. Rajan said. Though no internal injuries were seen he will be kept under medical observation at the district hospital for the next 72 hours, he added. In the rescue operation similar to that carried out last year for five-year-old Prince in Haryana, JCV machines from the marble centres which are nearby and local experts were summoned, Mr. Rajan said. Though attempts were made to contact the Army, personnel with expertise of this nature were not immediately available, he added. -- PTI
