Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday charged his Punjab counterpart Amarinder Singh and Opposition SAD-BJP alliance with ``joining hands'' against Haryana by passing the Punjab Termination Act of 2005 annulling their river water agreements with neighbouring States. Answering questions from reporters here, he said Punjab could not unilaterally annul river water-sharing agreements signed by the Prime Minister and Chief Ministers of four States. ``The unilateral decision of Punjab Government is not acceptable to the people of Haryana,'' Mr. Hooda added. He said the Supreme Court had decided in favour of Haryana by directing that the Sutlez-Yamuna Link canal, which is to bring the State's share of Ravi-Beas water, should be completed. Maximum work on the construction of the canal was undertaken during Congress tenure, he said adding now it would again be Congress which would make the canal functional. He said a Presidential reference on the Punjab Act was pending before the Supreme Court adding the State Government was trying its best for an early decision. He said he faced no problem in campaigning in Punjab, where Assembly elections are to be held next week, as he was sticking to his stand on inter-State issues even while campaigning. -- PTI
