Rhinoplasty meet

TIRUPATI: The Balaji (Tirupati) unit of Association of Otolaryngologists of India will be organising a free rhinoplasty (correction of deformed nose) and endoscopic sinus surgery (sinusitis, polyps and DCR) live surgical workshop on February 17 and 18 at Ruia Government Hospital here.

KURNOOL: Doctors of the General Hospital here struck work on Monday in protest against assault of CSRMO Srinivasa Rao on Sunday. The doctors boycotted outpatient work but attended to emergency cases. Wild boar fatally attacks worker

KADAPA: A wild boar fatally attacked an agricultural labourer Talari Venkataramana near Devalampet village in Chinnamandem mandal on Kadapa-Chittoor border on Sunday evening.

Venkataramana was cutting grass to feed cattle, when a wild boar pounced on him and ripped apart his vital organs, causing his instantaneous death, according to the police. - Staff Reporter

KADAPA: Forest officials seized 105 red sander logs worth Rs. 56,000 being transported under a load of watermelons in a van near Jangamrajupalle village in Lankamala forest range in Badvel, according to Badvel forest range officer P. Sivasankara Reddy. - Staff Reporter

34 withdraw nominations

Rajahmundry: Just 24 hours before the deadline for withdrawal of nominations, 34 more candidates withdrew from fray for the Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation (RMC) elections on Monday, taking the tally to 38.

On Monday, TDP district president Jyothula Nehru distributed 49 B. Forms to candidates in their divisions and asked the rebels to withdraw before Tuesday evening.

TDP leaders stage dharna

Srikakulam: In response to the call given by the party high command, activists of the Telugu Desam Party, headed by district unit president, Tammineni Sitaram and town unit president, Andhavasrapu Suribabu, organised dharna at the office of the Mandal revenue Office here on Monday. Called `pedala sankhaaravam' it was meant to highlight the "anti-poor" policies of the Congress Government. Mr. Sitaram made a scathing attack on the Congress Government by listing the "anti-poor" policies of the Government. - Special Correspondent

`A deceptive promise'

ELURU: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy's promise to bring the upland areas in West Godavari district under the ayacut of Indira Sagar Left Bank Canal through a lift scheme drew sharp criticism from the Telugu Desam Party.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Kotagiri Vidyadhara Rao, TDP official spokesman and former Minister, described the proposed lift scheme as a `false promise intended to deceive people'. - Staff Reporter
