THRISSUR: Various cultural programmes will be held at the Sree Vadakkumnathan Temple from February 8 to 16 as part of Sivaratri celebrations. M. Ramachandran, Kerala High Court judge, will inaugurate the programmes. Cochin Devaswom Board president M.A. Krishnanunni will preside. The inaugural function will be followed by a saxophone recital by Kadri Gopalnath. He will be accompanied by A. Kanyakumari on the Violin, Karunamurthy on the Tavil and V. Rajasekharan. Cine actress Lakshmi Gopalaswamy will present a Bharathanatyam recital on February 9. Suchitra Visweswaran will present a Mohiniyattom recital on February 10. Odissi exponent Meera Das will present a recital on February 12. A Mandolin recital by U.P. Raju will be the highlight of the programmes on February 13. Keiko Watanabe will present Kuchipudi on February 14. `Dakshayagom,' in Kathakali' will be enacted on February 15. Kalamandalam Balasubramanian, Sucheendran, Sasikala, Harinarayanan, Aravind, Ullas, Jishnu Namboodiripad and Neeraj will be the artistes. Kalamandalam Harish and Sudheesh and percussionists Kalamandalam Balarama Warriar and Harinarayanan will be the musicians. Ottanthullal by Muriyad Muralidharan, a devotional music programme led by Sobha Balamurali and a Carnatic recital by Thrissur Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar will be held on February 16. A bhajan programme by Bhakta Mahila Trust and a dance recital by Kalamandalam Vimala Devi will also be held, according to a press release.
