KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Monday directed the Judicial First Class Magistrate I, Malappuram, to release on bail V.B. Mohammed Kutty alias Hilal Mohammed after disposing of the custody application in the Rs. 35.50-lakh extortion case.
Justice V. Ramkumar issued the directive while disposing of the bail petition filed by V.B. Mohammed Kutty. The case assumed significance after the Marad commission had observed that a person known as FM (Finance Minister) had funded the Marad massacre. The media reported that the person referred to by the Commission as FM was V.B. Mohammed Kutty.
Justice C.N. Ramachandran Nair has awarded a compensation of Rs. 4 lakh to the legal heirs of a railway porter who was run over by a train while on duty.
The petition was filed by the widow of Devassy and his children.
