All ears for kite tips

Hyderabad: International School, Shaikpet, recently organised an in-house kite flying competition, which was witnessed by Japanese kite fliers Masaaki Modegi and Nakamura.

Mr. Modegi is the president of the Japan Kite Association and has flown the world's largest kite weighing 250 kg. Students got tips on kite-making techniques at the workshop conducted by them.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan

The Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Public School, Jubilee Hills, played host to a team of Japanese and Australian delegates who visited the school as part of the student exchange programme.

The students chose `bonalu dance' -- depicting the worship of goddess and the oracle -- to create awareness about the cultural background of the festival. The delegates too took part in the dance and later presented folk dances.

Delhi Public School

It was as if fairies in sparkling costumes from France, Germany and the Scandinavian countries had descended on the dais at the Hari Hara Kala Bhavan when students of Delhi Public School, Secunderabad, presented a cultural evening `Royaume des fees... the enchanted realm of fairies'. The event was a kaleidoscope of fairytales making elves, trolls, goblins and pixies whirl, swirl and dance on the stage casting their magical spell on the audience.

The event concluded with a message of global harmony.

The guest of honour and ELT expert from CIEFL, Paul Gunashekhar, laid importance on English as a language. Vijay Marur, CEO, DC Interactive, was the chief guest.

The school also celebrated the 57th Republic Day with fervour recalling the sacrifices made by great Indian heroes. The celebrations began with the hoisting of the National Flag by the headmistress, which was followed by an assembly.The event was a blend of flavours that described the preamble of the Constitution in detail, importance of democracyand right to equality in the country.

It's `John Aur Rishi'

City lad Rishi won the contest `John Aur Kaun' on Hungama TV and would be featured in Hindi movie `Goal' based on football.

Rishi, a student of Gitanjali Devashala School, participated in the preliminary round held at Prasads and got selected for the zonal round held in Mumbai. All the 40 zonal winners were required to display their acting and dancing skills before the judges. Rishi made it to the final round and emerged winner by impressing the judges Bollywood director Vivek Agnihotri and film actor John Abraham.

Narayana Conept School

Narayana Concept School, Narayanaguda, celebrated its second Annual Day at Lalitha Kala Thoranam with a colourful cultural programme.

The theme of the day was `Splendour Colours of Rainbow'. Students presented classical, folk and even exotic Scottish and Japanese dances. The highlight was Maha Swetha, a ballet.

Slate -The School

Slate-The school celebrated its second annual day at Sri Satya Sai Nigamagamam, focusing on Telugu literature.

Taking a break from the routine cultural fare, students presented `Padya Natakas' a speciality of Telugu drama by enacting roles of Krishna, Arjuna, Duryodhana and Bheema and depicted scenes from `Srikrishna Rayabaram' in Mahabharatham. The flawless diction of chaste Telugu by the students drew appreciation from parents and teachers.

Obul Reddy School

The Andhra Mahila Sabha- P.Obul Reddy School celebrated the 57th Republic Day and as per the school's tradition, an ex-student, Krishna Ramesh, hoisted the National Flag.

Later students rendered patriotic songs, followed by `Pancharatna Keertanas' as part of Tyagaraja Aradhanotsavam.
