Headmistress suspended

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The city Corporation has suspended from service A. Shailaja the headmistress-in-charge of Ponnara Sreedharan Memorial School for failing to ensure that the school remained open on Saturday. The school did not open that day in spite of the fact that Saturday was designated a working day in the academic calendar. Based on a report by the Assistant Education Officer, the corporation secretary issued the suspension order on Monday pending an inquiry into the incident, Corporation officials said.

One killed in accident

Thiruvananthapuram: One person was killed when the scooter which he was riding collided with a KSRTC bus near the Thycaud flyover around 11.30 a.m. on Monday. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as K. Vijayakrishnan, 62, a resident of `Jayageetha,' Sankar Nagar, Kaimanom, and a former Accounts Officer of the Kerala State Electricity Board. His daughter, Jaya who was pillion-riding, escaped with minor injuries. The police have registered case.

Seminar for students

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: T.I.M.E. will organise a seminar for students awaiting campus placement at Christ Nagar School auditorium from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on February 10. It will focus on the preparation of resume, group discussions and how to excel in interviews.
