`It is against the interests of the State'

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Indian Federation of Women Lawyers, Bangalore, has opposed the verdict of the Cauvery River Water Disputes Tribunal, saying it is against the interests of the State.

In a statement here, federation president Pramila Nesargi said that it is ironical that when 2007 is declared as the "Year of Water", Karnataka has been deprived of its "rightful share".

The federation said that it is unfortunate that the tribunal has "not considered the needs" and the "rights" of the people of the State.
