This Day That Age
Two large deposits of iron ore containing an estimated reserve of nearly 389 million tons of ore have been located in Andhra State by the Geological Survey of India. The deposits which are available in Guntur and Nellore districts will last some centuries. Of the total deposits, nearly 296 million tons contain 33 to 37 per cent of total iron in the rock. The remaining are of a lower grade with only 25 per cent content. The Geological Survey report points out that some more deposits may be revealed if further mapping of the areas is carried out.
