Move will help BT expand its customer base in India

NEW DELHI: The BT Group, the U.K.'s incumbent telecom operator, on Tuesday announced its decision to acquire the Mumbai-based i2i Enterprise Ltd., a company specialising in Internet protocol services. This move will help BT become a leading global carrier in the local market.

A formal agreement for the acquisition has been inked.

The acquisition would help BT expand its customer base and build a broad-based platform for growth in India, BT India Managing Director, C. S. Rao, said, adding that i2i had NLD (national long distance) and ILD (international long distance) as well as Internet Service Provider (ISP) and Internet telephony licences.
