Accused found dead

KASARAGOD: A school watchman, who had been accused of sexually abusing a blind boy, was found dead at his residence here, police said on Tuesday.

A case had been registered against S. Gopalakrishna Bhat (48), the guard posted at the blind school here, on charges of abusing the 10-year-old boy after taking him to his room on Saturday night, they said.

A police party which went to arrest him on Monday found his house locked and returned. However, the watchman was found dead by hanging inside the house on Monday night.

Bhat was recently shifted to the Blind School from the Kumbala Higher Secondary School after being accused of indecent behaviour there, they said. A group of students gheraoed the headmaster of the blind school demanding suspension of the accused from service. - PTI
