No untoward incidents reported in Hassan district during bandh

A few random rasta rokos were cleared within minutes

    JOINT EFFORT: Karnataka Rakshana Vedike activists staging a rasta roko near the KSRTC bus stand in Hassan on Tuesday.

    HASSAN: Life is normal throughout Hassan district. All schools, colleges, business establishments, hotels, cinema theatres, commercial establishments, courts and government offices functioned normally. The bandh called by Karnataka Rakshana Vedike in Hassan district had no impact.

    Speaking to the Hindu divisional controller, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), Ganganna Gowda said its bus services within the district and outside are operating according to schedule. Buses to Bangalore and Mysore have not been affected. In fact KSRTC makes 200 trips to Bangalore and Mysore daily.

    No problems

    Superintendent of Police Panduranga Rane said that there was absolutely no problem and life was normal in the entire district. No untoward incidents were reported anywhere from the district except for a few random rasta rokos that were cleared within minutes.

    In Hassan, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike along with BJP formed a human chain before resorting to a rasta roko.

    In Arsikere, agitators went to the railway station to detain the Inter-city Express operating from Bangalore to Hubli but since the train was running behind schedule they returned.

    There were processions and rasta rokos by the members of Tippu Youth Association in Arakalagudu and Chennaraypatna. The Kannada Kavalu Samiti also took out a protest rally.

    In Sakleshpur there was a rasta roko near the KSRTC bus stand. There was a rasta roko for a while in Boovanahalli near Hassan on Mangalore-Bangalore National Highway.

    There was no agitation in Belur and Alur taluks as they are situated in the backwaters of Yagachi River.
