No more power curbs in Secretariat

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Curbs on power supply in Secretariatat were lifted on Tuesday with Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy's order to senior officials to make preparations for the budget session of the Assembly from February 12.

Dr. Reddy addressed Ministers, senior secretaries and heads of departments in his office, asking them to "be on the toes from now onwards" for preparation of replies to numerous questions likely to be raised by legislators.

With this, all the air-conditioners in the Secretariat began to work again while complete lighting was allowed. The lifts that were switched off in the blocks following power cut imposed on all Government offices in the State also came back to life.

At the meeting, the Chief Minister asked the officials to desist from going on leave during the session till his permission was taken. "Senior officials should brief Ministers thoroughly" on the questions on which notices were served. He advised them to depute senior-most officials to attend Assembly duty instead of handing over the job to a junior.
