KHAMMAM: Farmers, who staged a protest in front of the Agriculture Department office seeking compensation for the loss of their chilli crop, went berserk and destroyed the furniture on Tuesday. Some 400 farmers from Tirumalayapalem, Khammam rural and Kusumanchi mandals stormed into the office of the Joint Director of Agriculture, complaining that the chilli seed they purchased from a private company was sub-standard. They wanted the agriculture officials toensure compensation.
