Groupism in party comes to the fore



HOPES SHATTERED: Srinivas Yadav of Congress, who was denied the B form, staging a dharna in Rajahmundry on Tuesday.

Rajahmundry: As many as 193 candidates remained in the fray for Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation elections after the withdrawal of nominations on Tuesday. Meanwhile, infighting in the Congress came to the fore as party activists belonging to the groups of Minister Jakkampudi Ramamohana Rao and MP G.V. Harshakumar almost scuffled with each other near the City Congress office and raising slogans against APCC president K. Keshava Rao and even Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

Aspirant's protest

Protesting against the `partisan' attitude of the Minister, APCC president and the Chief Minister, city Congress president Ramineedu Murali of Harshakumar group) resigned to his post.

His other close associate Srinivasa Yadav, whose name was announced a couple of days ago by APCC observer Danam Nagender staged a dharna with his followers for not giving him the B. Form.

His name was deleted in last minute and P. Tatarao was given the B form.

After the withdrawal of nominations, the number of candidates remained in fray from the Congress is 48 and the Telugu Desam Party is 49 besides others. Congress made tie-up with Communist Party of India.
