Kakinada: The Telugu Desam Party has expressed strong resentment over naming of the Pushkara lift irrigation project after Congress leader late Thota Venkatachalam and demanded immediate withdrawal of the decision. At a press conference here on Tuesday, State Telugu Mahila president Vanga Geeta Viswanath termed the announcement of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on naming the project `unfair' as it was conceived and executed by the Telugu Desam Government. Making it clear that the TDP was nothing against Thota Venkatachalam personally, she said the party was critical to the way the project was named. "If the Congress wants to honour him, let it name any of the projects, if any, conceived by it."
Stir threat
Pointing out that the Chief Minister was misled by his party colleagues on the issue, Ms. Geeta hoped that he would positively respond and withdraw the decision. She warned that the party would be forced to launch an agitation enlisting the support of other parties on it.
