Vijayashanti seeks justice for fluoride-hit

HYDERABAD: Actress-turned-politician Vijayashanti, President, Talli Telangana Party has urged Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to give special attention to easing the sufferings of fluoride-affected people.On Tuesday, she brought a group of fluoride-affected persons from Nalgonda district to Dr. Reddy's camp residence and explained their woes and sought succour. She wanted the fluorosis ward to be revived at the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences and also a special ward at the Headquarters Hospital in Nalgonda for treatment of fluoride-affected patients.

Pension

Ms. Vijayashanti wanted pension for the disabled to be increased from Rs. 200 to Rs. 500. According to official statistics, an estimated 60,000 people were affected and there was need to hike the pension, she said. She also wanted a component of the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to be set apart for financial assistance to them.
