COIMBATORE: The display of ghagra-cholis, flowing gowns and sequined sarees reflected the party wear theme. Created by the students of seven city colleges and universities belonging to the Department of Costume Design and Fashion, they formed part of the exhibition, contest-cum-sale organised by the Rathinam College of Arts and Science. The three-day `Rendezvous' that began on Monday was the culmination of efforts of the Department students. The party wear dresses mainly catered to ladies and children. Iqbal Singh, a Garment Consultant based at Tirupur, along with the Managing Director of Talma Clothing Company, Tirupur, Thiru Kumaran, judged the creations of the contestants. The three budding costume designers who bagged the first three places were A.Priya from Avinashilingam University for Women; Kalai Arasi, also from Avinashilingam University, and Sabari Priya from Jayendra College. On the occasion, S. Latha, the Head of the Department, announced the names of the third-year students who were selected by Mr. Thirukumaran through campus interview.
