" Corporation is conducting door-to-door poll roll verification"
CHENNAI: Nominations filed by candidates for the upcoming Chennai Corporation polls were scrutinised on Tuesday. The total number of nominations filed was 699. Of these, 31 nominations were rejected. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is February 8 and the final list of candidates will be released the same day. Elections are scheduled for February 18. The Chennai Corporation, which is conducting a door-door verification of electoral rolls, will cover Royapuram and Harbour constituencies on February 9, 10 and 11. Verification officers will visit houses to crosscheck voters' personal information. A photographer will take a picture of voters. The Corporation has notified the streets that are to be covered on each day and requested voters to be available during the verification. In case the voter cannot be present when officials visit, he or she can leave a recent, passport-sized colour photo with a family member or submit it at the Chennai Corporation Zone 2 Office, New No 107, Basin Bridge Road, Moolakothalam, a release here said.
