Terminals for trucks along ORR
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD:
The Government has decided to develop ten truck terminals along the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and some bus terminals between the inner and outer ring roads.
The Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has been asked to identify the ten places just outside the ORR for establishing the truck terminals, according to instructions given by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Monday.
During an official meeting attended by senior officials, Dr. Reddy instructed that the HUDA scout for land sites, which are not less than 50 acres each, for setting up the terminals. He asked the HUDA to complete the exercise within a month. The meeting felt that the truck terminals with all facilities should be established by the time ORR is complete. The terminals are to be owned and developed by the HUDA but maintenance and operations could be on public-private partnerships. However, a final decision on this could be taken later.
