Kochi: A contempt of court petition was filed on Tuesday before the High Court against Kochi Corporation Mayor Mercy Williams, Deputy Mayor Manisankar and Corporation Secretary V. Raju for the Corporation's failure to implement the directions given by the court.
Legal notice
In reply to a legal notice issued by the petitioner, the Deputy Mayor had stated that he had taken all steps to implement the directions. In fact, he wrote a letter to the Mayor requesting her to take all steps to comply with the High Court directions. So, he could not be held responsible for the non-compliance of the directions, Mr. Manisankar said.
According to the petitioner, the letter itself proved that there was total failure on the part of the Mayor to implement the directions.
