This Day That Age
The Government of India are expected to allot Rs.12 lakhs for the construction of an archaeological museum to house the famous Buddhist relics of Nagarjunakonda which are now being excavated from the valley, since it will be submerged when the multi-purpose Nagarjunasagar Project is completed in about seven years' time. It is proposed to construct the museum on the top of a hillock in the valley which will be surrounded by water on all sides, so that visitors will have to ferry across a distance of about five miles from the dam to reach the spot. This place will thus serve as a centre of tourist attraction.
