Many witnesses turn hostile

Staff Correspondent

BHOPAL: Yet another eyewitness, the fourth so far, turned hostile in a court at Ujjain on Wednesday during the hearing of the case in connection with the murder of Prof. H.S. Sabharwal during a college union election on August 26, 2006.

Statement withdrawn

One of the prime witnesses, Nawal Kishore, withdrew his earlier statement and refused to identify any of the assailants.

He said that all he could remember was that there was groupism in Ujjain's Madhav College and that a college professor was heard telling a group of students that Professor Sabharwal was against holding the union election.

Other key witnesses

Three main witnesses — Komal Singh Parihar, Manohar Singh Dondiya and Sarwan Patel — have already turned hostile.

The only person who has stuck to his earlier version is Govind Kushwaha.

There are 48 witnesses in this case and five of them have appeared in court.
