Government okays Sahara land deal

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Government has approved the land-transfer deal between Sahara Housing and Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) and subsequent construction on the land, revoking the then Chief Minister Kalyan Singh's order to demolish the structures in 1999.

The LMC had transferred 170 acres of land to Sahara Housing, a sister concern of the Sahara Group, in 1994 in the Gomti Nagar area after taking it from the Lucknow Development Authority.

According to highly placed sources here on Wednesday, the Government has accepted the contention of Sahara Housing that the transfer and subsequent construction on the land was in accordance with the rules. PTI
