Software engineer falls to death

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: A young software engineer died after he fell from the eighth floor of the Wipro office in Electronics City police station limits here on Tuesday.

Preliminary investigation showed that Ramesh Babu Das Shetty (26) of Andhra Pradesh had apparently committed suicide, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Soumendu Mukherjee told The Hindu on Wednesday. Ramesh, who was working in a software firm in Hyderabad, had joined Wipro three weeks ago. He and his wife were staying in the company guest-house. Around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Ramesh and his wife went to work. He told her to wait in the lobby because he had to check mail at his workstation on the second floor. He then went to the eighth floor and reportedly jumped from there. "There was no reason for him to go to the eighth floor. It looks like a case of suicide," Mr. Mukherjee said.
